Hayso Thacko is a refugee activist and peace worker at currently situated at the Thai-Burma border. Haysocurrently serves as Education and Livelihood Coordinator at Karen Refugee Committee and Chair of Refugee Affairs at the Karen Peace Support Network. Besides this, he also serves in different capacities, such as student and youth empowerment, leading advocate at Karen Student Network Group and helping students and researchers on refugee issues. He helps to organise Stakeholder meeting inviting local refugee community leaders, NGOs, INGOs, UN-Agencies and donors to discuss on refugee supports, preparedness for refugees and engaging in ethnic and refugee students and teacher rights through regular consultation. Apart from his works, he is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Payap University at the Department of Peacebuilding.
Asia Pacific Network of Refugees (APNOR) is the only region-wide refugee-led network of refugee-led initiatives in the Asia Pacific region that is working with and for refugees. APNOR was established in 2018, on the recommendation of Asia Pacific Summit of Refugees (APSOR).
