APNOR is the only region-wide refugee-led network of refugee-led initiatives in the Asia Pacific that is working with and for refugees. Membership is open to all civil society organisations and individuals committed to advocating for the rights of refugees and other people in need of protection in the region.

Membership extends to all civil society organisations and individuals committed to advocating for the rights of refugees and other people in need of protection in the Asia Pacific region — including organisations and individuals based outside the region.

Civil society organisations & individuals

Advocating for refugee rights in or outside the Asia Pacific region.

Not open to

Governmental, inter-governmental, para-governmental and para-military bodies; national human rights institutions; media members; or individuals employed by these bodies.

Membership — frequently asked questions

Is there a fee to become a member?

No — there's no fee to apply. Complete the application above and our team reviews every submission.

Do I have to identify as a refugee to join?

No. Membership is open to any civil society organisation or individual committed to advocating for refugee rights — refugee-led or not. The application does ask whether you identify as a refugee, but it's optional context, not a requirement.

Can organisations outside the Asia Pacific apply?

Yes — membership extends to organisations and individuals based outside the region too, as long as your work advocates for the rights of refugees and other people in need of protection in the Asia Pacific.

Who isn't eligible to join?

Governmental, inter-governmental, para-governmental and para-military bodies; national human rights institutions; media organisations; and individuals employed by these bodies are not eligible for membership.

How long does review take?

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We follow up by email once a decision is made — if you haven't heard back and want an update, contact us directly.
